While new vehicle sales declined by several thousand units during November 2018. The decline looked equally significant when comparing November sales to the October 2018 sales tally and when compared to the same month last year. Even so, it is quite possible for total new vehicle sales in Canada to be over two million units once again. On the plus side, Toyota had an excellent month. Not only did the RAV4 and the Corolla enjoy the most significant increase in unit sales on year over year basis, but Toyota also overhauled Fiat Chrysler to move into the number three position for total new vehicle sales for the 2018 calendar year. The gap is only 2096 units, so it is possible that Fiat Chrysler might catch up. But based on the trend we have seen year to date, we would suggest that FCA will not manage to outsell Toyota during December. It should be noted that Toyota is bringing a new RAV4 to the market in December 2018, so if there are supply issues that could impact the total sales volume at Toyota in a negative way. The Ford F Series and Ram Pickup lines saw the most significant unit volume decrease for the month. While the Ford Escape and the Chevrolet Silverado saw the largest percentage decline in their sales.
